Communication-Efficient Coordinated RSS-Based Distributed Passive Localization via Drone Cluster

Multi-UAV passive localization via received signal strength (RSS) is extremely important for wide applications such as rescue and battlefield combat. However, the energy consumption of UAVs a key issue in this UAVs-enabled application. Usually, communication overhead plays an role consumption. To address problem, we design two distributed methods multi-UAV system with considerable performance under low overhead. Firstly, majorize-minimization (DMM) method proposed. accelerate its convergence, tight upper bound objective function from primary one derived. Furthermore, estimation scheme using Fisher information matrix (DEF) presented, only requiring round between edge central UAV. Simulation results show that proposed DMM outperforms existing iterative terms root mean square error (RMSE) Moreover, most communication-effective DEF local search performs much better than RMSE, but has higher computational complexity.
